Neat and discreet

The Stewarts and their Generac

Power outages can seem long. Fortunately, it only took ten minutes to turn Don Stewart on to Generator Power Systems.

“These are people who know what they’re doing, they’re going to be honest with me, and they’re going to do a good job,” says Stewart of his thought process at the time. “It turns out I was right.”

Light it up

Stewart and his wife Janet were in the market for a generator for their 2,200-square-foot, one-story home in The Woodlands.

Although they already had a smaller generator, they wanted something to “illuminate” and “operate” the entire house in the event of a power outage.

Stewart had recently received a letter from Montgomery County’s electric provider encouraging residents to consider standby power sources. At the top of the list, says Stewart, was Fish Electric affiliate, Generator Power Systems.

That’s how Stewart found himself in the GPS showroom, chatting with owners Jim and Yvonne Fish.

A helping hand throughout

The process of choosing and installing a generator can be somewhat daunting.

Stewart had to obtain permission from the homeowner’s association; the generator had to be installed in a “tight space” alongside the house but still allow enough room for maintenance technicians; Stewart needed to expand the cement pad his air conditioning unit sits on, but at the same time not interfere with yard drainage; and furthermore he wanted to make sure the ground would not eventually tilt under the weight of an 840-pound piece of machinery.

GPS staff and contractors guided Stewart through the entire process.

“They were able to foresee any problems and work them out during all phases of the project,” says Stewart. “They demonstrated talent, skill and knowledge at all levels.”

The overall result has satisfied both Stewart and his community.

“Things in The Woodlands have to be ‘neat and discreet,’” says Stewart. “Those two words proved to be the theme of our entire installation.”
